The Luxembourg Stock Exchange (LuxSE) created the LGX DataHub in 2020 to support the growth of sustainable finance and allow investors and asset managers to build sustainable investment strategies, meet their reporting requirements and stay compliant with new regulations. A centralised database hosting structured sustainability data points on fixed income products in the sustainable finance market, the LGX DataHub offers the most advanced coverage of green, social, sustainability and sustainability-linked bonds, as well as the most comprehensive scope of data on these instruments. As the year draws to a close, let’s look back at 2021 and see how the LGX DataHub has evolved and how it continues to accelerate sustainable finance.
Taking the LGX DataHub to the next level
When it was first launched, the LGX DataHub covered structured and granular data on the full selection of green, social and sustainability bonds listed on LuxSE and displayed on the Luxembourg Green Exchange (LGX). Over the past year, the scope of the LGX DataHub has gradually increased to cover close to the entire universe of listed, sustainable debt securities worldwide.
SLBs and universe
New this year is that sustainability-linked bonds (SLBs) are now integrated into the DataHub, making it much easier for users to find and explore data on these new instruments. Over 180 SLBs are now included in the DataHub, with more to be added soon.
The most complete universe worldwide
Following the latest update of the LGX DataHub, structured data points are now available on a total of 5,018 green, social, sustainability and sustainability-linked bonds, issued by 1,427 different issuers across the world. This large scope allows our users to perform more comprehensive and in-depth analysis of sustainability data and make informed investment decisions while contributing to positive green and social outcomes.
New exclusive features
The integration of SLBs into the DataHub brings additional features, including:
- A specific display in the Data Explorer: SLBs are identified through coloured target icons.
- New dedicated filters: SLBs can be filtered through the “Tag” filter. A new “KPI Theme” filter also allows users to make more targeted searches based on the type of KPIs applicable (e.g., Environmental, Social or Governance KPIs).
- A new data model: New data points have been introduced to reflect the specific characteristics of SLBs, such as KPIs, SPTs, trigger events, potential changes in the bonds’ characteristics, reporting and verification commitments. Users can also extract data in an Excel format with the export button.
But that's not all. The latest update of the LGX DataHub brings:
- A new Issuer Type & Subtype filter that allows users to filter issuers based on 20 economic sectors, categorised in three main types: Corporate, Financials and SSA.
- A revamped Chart View in the Data Explorer that has been restructured in two tabs: Pre-issuance vs. post-issuance.
Accelerating sustainable finance
The LGX DataHub is one of the latest initiatives from LuxSE as part of its efforts to facilitate sustainable investments and help reorient capital flows towards sustainable development projects. In 2020, LuxSE also established the LGX Academy to strengthen sustainable finance education among financial professionals, students, public institutions, and the broader public.
Launched in 2016, LGX is the world’s leading platform for sustainable securities and has become the reference venue for issuers of sustainable debt instruments worldwide. In October 2021, the European Commission’s inaugural EUR 12 billion green bond, the world’s largest green bond issued to date, was listed on LuxSE and displayed on LGX. The platform now counts more than 1,200 sustainable bonds raising funds for specific green and social projects and sustainable development across the world.
